Records Requests


  • All requests for records should be made online using the button to the right.
  • Requests are fulfilled in the order they are received.
  • GOVT. CODE §§ 6250 - 6276.48 : An agency has 10 days to decide if copies will be provided. In "unusual" cases (request is "voluminous," seeks records held off-site, OR requires consultation with other agencies), the agency may, upon written notice to the requesters, give itself an additional 14 days to respond. (§ 6253(c))

Procedure for Requesting Duplication of Architectural Building Plans

  • The Town is compelled to seek compliance with California Health and Safety Code Sections 19850-19853.   
  • Anyone from the public is able to come in to our office and view building plans from any property.
  • If the plans are signed and stamped by an architect and/or engineer, then it is copyrighted material, and it will be necessary to undergo a legal process in order to obtain permission from that professional to copy them.
  • If you are not the property owner, permission will need to be obtained from the current property owner to copy the plans.
  • You will need to complete an Affidavit for Request to Duplicate Building Plans.
  • We then send the request to duplicate the building plans to the professional(s) [i.e., architect(s), engineer(s), if any] via certified mail.
  • The plan duplication process typically takes around six weeks.
