Town of Mammoth Lakes to host 2021 Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular at Crowley Lake

The Town of Mammoth Lakes in partnership with Crowley Lake Fish Camp is extremely proud to bring back the Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular to Crowley Lake on Sunday, July 4, 2021. The Independence Day fireworks show promises to be a bright and striking display of color in the Eastern Sierra night sky. This year’s custom designed “Sky Concert” will propel over 851 shells into the Eastern Sierra sky for a mesmerizing 17 minutes beginning at approximately 9:15 p.m. (weather permitting). The show will simulcast live on KMMT 106.5 – tune in and enjoy! The Town of Mammoth Lakes would like to acknowledge L.D.C. and Mono County Community Services Area 1 for their generous donations and long-standing support of this generational community event at Crowley Lake. Community Recreation Center (CRC) Update

Memorial Day Weekend is almost here and it’s going to be a sensational weekend in Mammoth Lakes. Hamel Contracting Inc., the Town’s contractor for the new Community Recreation Center (CRC) continues to make great progress preparing the site for the foundation of the Sprung Performance Arena and utilities.  The contractor will not be working on the site from Friday afternoon, through Monday.  Work will resume on Tuesday, June 1.

Temporary park closure: For the duration of construction for the new Community Recreation Center (estimated 12 months), the Mammoth Creek Park playground, restrooms and parking lot will be CLOSED to the public. The Town will maintain public restrooms on the eastside of Mammoth Creek Park accessible from the multi-use path.  We invite you to enjoy one of our many playgrounds at Trails End Park, Shady Rest Park and the Community Center.  We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we work towards enhancing our community recreation amenities. For additional information about the new CRC, please visit the dedicated website and look for #crcupdates on Facebook.

Inyo National Forest and Bureau of Land Management Bishop Field Office Enter Fire Restrictions

Effective May 24, the Inyo National Forest and Bureau of Land Management Bishop Field Office are implementing (Stage 1) fire restrictions on all Federal lands under their jurisdiction. This decision is based on very high fire danger, drought conditions coupled with extremely dry vegetation, an increase in human caused wildfires and the availability of firefighters for response.  Seasonal fire restrictions for the Eastern Sierra Region are being implemented in close coordination with the Cal Fire San Bernardino/Inyo/Mono Unit and the Mono County Sheriff’s Office. Click here to review the fire restrictions now in effect for your safety.

Residential Recreational Fire Restrictions in Mammoth Lakes

Effective May 24, in conjunction with the fire restrictions put in place by the Inyo National Forest and Bureau of Land Management which prohibit campfires outside of developed campgrounds and recreation sites, MLFD is prohibiting residential recreational fires within the Town of Mammoth Lakes. If you obtained a permit for a recreational fire pit on your property, it is suspended until further notice. Please note, however, that propane fire pits that do not burn wood will continue to be allowed.
