The Town of Mammoth Lakes remains under the State of California, Regional Stay-at-Home Order as the adult ICU capacity in our assigned region (Southern California) remains below 15%.

This means our lodging restrictions as per the updated January 7, 2021 Public Health Officer Order: Clarification of CDPH “Regional Stay-at-Home” Order as Related to Lodging Facilities, is still in effect.

The Regional Stay-At-Home Order will be lifted when regional available adult ICU bed capacity is greater than or equal to 15% and is projected to remain above that level for the subsequent four weeks. At the end of the Stay-At-Home order, each county within the Region will be assigned to a tier based on the Blueprint for a Safer Economy

In addition to allowing rentals to only essential travelers, the Town is requiring all rental operators to reduce rental capacity, including essential travelers, to no more than 30% of capacity at any time for Hotels, Motels, Condo-Hotels and Management Companies operating 10 or more privately owned properties, and no more than 10 rental days per unit per month for operators with less than 10 privately owned properties. This additional restriction is intended to reduce occupancy of essential travelers at one time in a rental facility.  All operators must also maintain 48 hours vacancy between occupancy, by either paid rental or owners.

Violations of these restrictions will result in fines to the rental operator.

The Town has also adjusted the process by which essential travelers are documented. The Transient Rental Restriction Exemption Claim Form is to be completed by the traveler and retained by the lodging operator and submitted monthly with the Transient Occupancy Tax Return.  Every rental transaction conducted by the lodging operator requires an exemption form attesting essential travel. Any transactions conducted without the form will be deemed in violation of the State Regional Stay-at-Home Order and will result in fines.

The Transient Rental Restriction Exemption Claim Form can be viewed online.
