National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
Mammoth Lakes, CA – On Saturday, April 28, 2018, the Mammoth Lakes Police Department (MLPD) will be participating in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. From 10:00AM to 2:00PM, Mammoth Lakes Police offices will be accepting current and expired prescription drugs to be destroyed.
The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day addresses a crucial public safety and public health issue. According to the 2015 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 6.4 million Americans abused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet. We are working in partnership with the DEA to reduce the accessibility of unwanted prescription drugs found in our community. Residents are encouraged to clean out their medicine cabinets of unneeded or expired medications and turn them in to MLPD. Any medication turned in will be promptly destroyed.
For more information, please call MLPD at 760-965-3700.
