We offer a variety of youth programming throughout the year for locals and visitors alike.

Winter Skating Lessons

Classes are scheduled in two sessions over the winter season.  The Fall 4-week Session takes place in December, and the Winter 6-week Session runs throughout January and February. Classes are held on Wednesday evenings from 3:15-5:00pm (weather permitting). Ages 7+ and all levels are welcome. The program fee includes skate & helmet rentals.

Instructional Basketball

This is an introductory level program for kids who are just becoming interested in the sport of basketball. This FREE program is designed for children ages 5-7 years. This program typically runs February through March. 

Little Sluggers T-Ball

Introduce your child to the wonderful sport of baseball with this fun, safe and educational league. Parent involvement is required and children ages 1.5-5 years are welcome to join. Practice and games will take place on Wednesday evenings from 5:15 - 6:00pm at the Mammoth Elementary School fields. This program typically runs May through June. 

Summer Camps

We offer a variety of summer camps for children 4-14 years of age. Registration for summer camps opens the first Monday of April each year at 8:00 a.m. Camps fill up quickly and space is limited.  These programs typically run June through August. 

Aquatics Camp

Improve your swim strokes with the Whitmore Pool Staff and enjoy learning new techniques in the shadows of the Eastern Sierra. Whitmore Staff will teach participants water safety, basic rescuing skills, kayaking, plant and wildlife identification and other aquatic fun-facts in a fun and safe environment. Campers will also get to explore and swim in the local aquatic areas such as the Mammoth Lakes Basin, Convict Lake, June Lake, Hot Creek, the Owens River and the Whitmore Pool.

Challenger Sports Soccer Camp

Details: We’ve teamed up with Challenger Sports to bring you another fun summer of soccer camps. Learn new skills, make new friends and get tips from the pros in this week long session. With options for ages 3-14, half-day and full-day, and all ability levels, you can customize your experience and level of engagement in the sport. Both British and Brazilian themed camps available.

Climbing Camp

Details: Got ropes? Hosted by Ground Up Climbing Guides this youth camp is perfect for the aspiring climber mini through youth, who wants to have fun, climb safely, and learn valuable climbing techniques. Instruction and all climbing gear are provided for this awesome 2 day camp.

Fly Fishing Camp

Details: Join our local guide getting to know equipment and techniques for fly fishing. Start in a controlled environment at Whitmore Recreation Area before testing your new skills in the local water ways. Spend the afternoon learning how to tie your own flies and about local ecology.

Lego Camp

Details: Kids will love to explore and create with our massive collections of LEGO®. While they build elaborate objects, structures and vehicles, they will also explore fundamental principles of engineering and physics. Kids are already naturally gifted creators who get added inspiration from our specially trained instructors resulting in amazing and fun creations. In addition, they learn to collaborate and create without fear of mistakes. The experience is joyful and the impact long lasting. Jedi or Minecraft engineering themes.

Mammoth Sampler Camps

Sample all Mammoth has to offer with Mammoth Sampler Camps! Hiking, biking, swimming and more! This itinerary combines our classic Wilderness Camp and Adventure Camp into 4.5 days of jam packed fun and adventure! 

Mini Explorers Camp

Details: Designed to engage our younger participants (ages 4-5) these 2-day or 5-day camp explore the themes of Rocks and Volcanoes or Plants and Animals as they visit local points of interest.

Mountain Bike Camp

Details: Let’s hit the trails together in our new Mountain Bike Camp! For the youth age groups, this 3 day camp will be sure to spark your sense of adventure while teaching you how to explore on a mountain bike safely.

UK Soccer Camp

Details: This fun, challenging and skill-filled camp will perfect your soccer skills and expose you to new techniques. This 5 day British themed camp is offered in full and half day sessions and is available for ages 4-14.

Wave Rave Skate Camps

Details: Designed for beginner to intermediate skaters mini through youth, this 3 day camp will have you ready to shred in no time! Excellent cross-training for snowboarding and top recommended camp for active kids. 

Youtheatre Drama Camp

Details: Youtheatre is a fun drama camp offered for 5-11 yr. olds and 12-17 year olds. This 2 week camp is a summer favorite! Each age group will practice and put on a play as the camp finale. The 2019 presentations included "Lion King" and "Mamma Mia." Come and put on a show and have a blast! 

Summer Swim Lessons

From June through August, the Whitmore Pool offers aquatic classes structured along the guidelines of the American Red Cross ’Learn to Swim Program’. Group and private lessons are available for all levels and ages. Group sessions include both 5 week programs (once a week, Mondays or Saturdays) and week-long sessions (5 days, Monday - Friday).

Hot Shots Basketball

Hot Shots is a fun and exciting co-ed instructional basketball program for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders taught by Coach Lauren, Recreation Coordinators, and parent volunteers. The first month of the program is clinic style where the children learn the skills of the game. The last two months of the program is intramural league play where the children are divided up into teams where they will play against each other. This program typically runs November through January.

Youth Sports Organizations

A number of youth sports organizations provide a variety of activities within the local Mammoth Lakes and Mono County communities. These activities include nordic skiing, soccer, volleyball, swimming, child care services, ice hockey, tee ball, baseball and a number of adaptive sports. 



MCV Logo

Offers both travel and non-travel teams for girls in grades 6-12. The volleyball program operates seasonally from January through June and also hosts an annual advanced skills summer camp.

EASTERN SIERRA NORDIC SKI ASSOCIATION   ESNA LogoProvides junior cross-country skiing and biathlon programs. Support is provided to local skiers in the form of financial assistance for equipment rentals, scholarships for travel and participation fees, training and race wax, uniforms, tools and coaching. Programs supported by ESNA include Gliders (after school  sessions), Avalanche (weekend sessions), Mammoth Middle School Team, Mammoth High School Team and Mammoth Youth Competition Team.



MCLL Logo 
Coed baseball league for children aged 4-15 years old. The season runs from April through June, followed by an invite-only All-Stars Tournament.


A seasonal, competitive swim team operating from early May until mid-August. High quality, high energy coaching provides every athlete with the opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her own ability, from novice to serious competitor.


MTC Logo

The Mammoth Track Club hosts two summer youth running camps that focus on building endurance, speed, agility and motivation. Olympic and national caliber coaches work with the team each morning over the course of a week, and these sessions are also great for 'all-sport conditioning',


MAMMOTH AYSO AYSO LogoHosts a fall soccer season for youth in the Mono County. The season runs from the end of August through the beginning of November. This soccer season is for players of all ability levels. Weather permitting, a spring soccer season is held for players who excelled during the regular season. This is an invite-only league and typically involves significant travel to various tournaments throughout Nevada and California.


Provides youth ice hockey programs from November through February at the Mammoth Ice Rink.



 MUSD Logo

Provides child care services for after school and school holidays, serving full-pay and under-served families. The program offers academic support, social/emotional curriculum, character education, arts and crafts, health and safety curriculum, and fitness and exercise.

DSES LogoProvides adaptive sports and therapeutic outdoor recreation for people with disabilities. In winter, athletes alpine ski, Nordic ski and snowboard at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area and Tamarack Cross Country Ski Center. In summer, a variety of sports are taught throughout the Eastern Sierra including road cycling, mountain biking, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, rock climbing, hiking, fishing and camping. In addition to daily lessons, a variety of multi-day camps are also offered.

Cancellation Policy

All activities are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Activities are closed when maximum enrollment is met. The Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel or postpone any program or activity due to inclement weather or low enrollment. A full refund will be made if the Parks and Recreation Department cancels a program. A $40 service fee will be imposed for all returned checks and could result in refusal of future participation. All cancellations received more than two weeks prior to the start of the program will receive a refund, less a 10% processing fee. Participant cancellations received with less than one week’s notice prior to the start of the program are non-refundable. Please allow 1-2 weeks for any refunds.
